Have you ever received one of those “Thinking of you” cards? Those are great. They give you a little boost at those times when you feel like no one even knows you exist, much less cares. A friend sent me a picture, once, quite a long time ago. It was a picture of him sitting at a table in the University library, his head resting on his hand, staring into space. That was all that was in the envelope- nothing more. Of course I had to call and ask for an explanation. He simply said, “That is a picture of me, thinking of you.” *Sigh*

I spoke to another friend not so long ago, and she was telling me of a little wreck she had while cycling (a close encounter with the curb). “Were you not paying attention?” I asked, “what were you thinking of?” ( I guess it was the mother in me coming out) I was taken a little aback when she replied- “You!” That did make me feel a little guilty.

But, isn’t it cool to know that someone is thinking about you? Do you know who is thinking of YOU right this minute (besides your mother)? GOD IS! No doubt you have heard the sayings that if God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it, or if He had a wallet, your picture would be in it. It is true! Or have you heard the song that has the lyrics- “While He was on the cross, I was on His mind”? It is true! Why? Because He loves you.

He loves you so much that He makes a new day every morning, and then wakes you up to enjoy it! He loves you so much that He will painstakingly work out situations and circumstances in your life that are designed to bring you closer to him in relationship. He loves you so much that Jesus was willing to leave the awesomeness and wonderfulness of Heaven, put aside the Godly glory that rightfully belongs to Him, and come to Earth. For you. For me. He was willing to take on flesh and blood, to experience temptation and humanness. For you. He was willing to allow Himself to be lied about, abused, ridiculed, humiliated, and put to a horrible death. Why? Because He loves you, He was thinking of you. He was willing to make a fool of Himself for you. Isn’t it amazing what love will do? We will pose for silly pictures, endure skinned knees and elbows, and even more, because our love for someone causes us to think about them.

We may not always realize it, but we are on God’s mind. He is thinking about you. So when you feel like no one even knows that you exist or cares what you are doing- take heart- GOD DOES!! He sees. He knows. He is thinking about you. The Bible says that He has your name written on His hand (Isa. 49:16). Remember those Jr. High (or maybe even high school) crushes when the boys would write your name and phone number in the palm of their hands? Well God has your name on His! He pays so much attention to you that the very hairs on your head are numbered! Think of the times you brush and comb your hair in a day. There are hairs coming and going on your head all the time!!! Yet, God is aware of every single one. He is paying attention.

So, if God had a fridge up there in the heavenlies, your picture would be on it. If He has a desk from which He administers the world affairs, your picture is in the middle of it! How neat!

There is also something else that we know God has in heaven. It is infinitely more important than your picture on His fridge or desk. It is called the Lamb’s Book of Life (Phil.4:3; Revelation 20:12, 21:27). What is so important about it is, if one’s name is written in it. God’s Word tells us that the occasion of a person’s salvation in coming to Jesus Christ is a cause for great celebration in the spiritual realm of heaven. When a person’s name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, all the angels in heaven rejoice (Luke 15:10).

So, more important than having your picture on God’s desk, is having your name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. He loves you. He wants to redeem your life from the pit. Is your name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life?
