Thankful for…

At this Thanksgiving time, I reflected on all of the blessings that fill my life, and the many things I am thankful for. My list is VERY long. Here are just a few…

I am thankful for my life, my family, friends, the community I live in, my country and freedoms, the food that I have to eat, the shelter I enjoy, and the work that I have to do.

I am thankful that my thoughts and prayers can go where I can not, and wrap around a loved one, whether they are just down the road, across the state, across the country, or half way around the world.

I am thankful that God’s eye is on me, because sometimes I wonder if anyone is paying attention.

I am thankful God’s hand is on the world, because without Him it would fall apart and there would be no hope.

I am thankful for children who, out of nowhere, make a comment or do a deed that shows they were listening when everyone else thought they weren’t.

I am thankful for the ties that bind us, the looks that buoy us, and the actions that help us carry on.

I am thankful for men and women who daily lay down their lives for a country they love, a way of life they cherish, and people they have never met, because they know it is right.

I am thankful for friends who have the courage to correct me, and love me still.

I am thankful for the angels God sends to us to minister to us, to fight for us, and to carry us through when we don’t have a clue.

I am thankful for leaders who do not back down from what is right, even though it may not be easy or popular.

I am thankful that even though time marches on, Someone is watching the clock.

I am thankful for teachers who stand for the Light in our dimming schools.

I am thankful that many people still take off their hat and cover their hearts when our flag goes by, and many still bow their head or kneel to pray.

I am thankful that even though God is THE King of the universe, I can still climb up in His lap and wet the royal robes of my Daddy with my tears.

I am thankful that the Heavenly Father will be out searching the horizon for prodigals until the dawn of the Last Day.

What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving? I challenge you to make your list and give it to God. Oh, and if there are a few things that you wouldn’t mind sharing, I’d be interested to have a peek, too.
